The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology notified 136 apps that violated user rights, such as "Tencent Mobile Manager"

  People’s Daily Online, Beijing, March 12 (Zhao Chao) Today, official website, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released the "APP Bulletin on Infringement of Users’ Rights and Interests (the 3rd batch in 2021, the 12th batch in total)", which involved 136 softwares such as Tencent Mobile Manager, Tianya Community, Fangduoduo and Meitu ID photo infringing users’ rights and interests to varying degrees.

  It is reported that in accordance with the Network Security Law, the Telecommunications Regulations, the Regulations on the Protection of Personal Information of Telecommunications and Internet Users and other laws and regulations, and in accordance with the work arrangements of the Notice on Deepening the Special Remediation Action of APP Infringement on Users’ Rights and Interests (No.164 [2020] of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently organized a third-party testing agency to inspect mobile phone application software and urged enterprises with problems to rectify it. Up to now, there are still 136 apps that have not been rectified.

  According to the circular, the above-mentioned software involves such violations as over-range collection of personal information, deceiving and misleading users to download apps, frequent self-startup of apps and associated startup.

  According to the notification requirements, the above-mentioned APP should complete the rectification and implementation work before March 17. If it is not changed within the time limit, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will organize relevant disposal work according to the law.
