E-sports attracted attention on the stage of Hangzhou Asian Games —— How to cultivate e-sports talents in colleges and universities?

On October 2nd, the Knife Tower Final of Hangzhou Asian Games ended in Hangzhou E-sports Center, and the China team let one chase two beat the Mongolian team to win the championship. At this point, the e-sports events of the Hangzhou Asian Games have all ended, and the China team won 4 gold medals and 1 bronze medal, making it the biggest winner of the e-sports events of the Hangzhou Asian Games.

In recent years, the scale of e-sports events has been expanding. On September 6th, the International Olympic Committee announced the establishment of an e-sports committee, which highlighted the IOC’s recognition of the development potential of e-sports.

With the continuous development of e-sports industry, the cultivation of e-sports talents has become a social concern. In 2016, the Ministry of Education announced 13 supplementary majors for higher vocational enrollment, including "e-sports and management". Since then, e-sports education has officially entered the classroom, and many colleges and universities have set up related majors.

However, in terms of teachers, courses and public opinion, the current e-sports education in colleges and universities is facing no small challenge. What are the characteristics of talent demand in e-sports industry? How to cultivate e-sports talents in colleges and universities? The reporter interviewed this.

There is a great demand for talents in e-sports industry.

China E-sports Industry Report 2022 shows that in 2022, the revenue of China’s e-sports industry was 144.503 billion yuan, and 108 domestic e-sports events were held throughout the year.

In contrast to the vigorous development of the industry, there is a big talent gap in the e-sports industry at present. According to the report released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security at the beginning of this year, less than 15% of the jobs in the e-sports industry are in a state of manpower saturation, while the gap in the middle and upper reaches of similar industries such as event production and broadcasting is 1.5 million.

"At present, the problem of talent shortage in e-sports industry is serious." According to Xu Jian, a professor at the School of Media and Communication, Shanghai Jiaotong University, at present, there is a shortage of reserve professional players in e-sports talents in China, and there is a shortage of professionals in operation and management. Xu Jian believes that this is related to the fact that the whole society has not really regarded e-sports as a professional sport. "Compared with other sports athletes, the problems of the entrance and exit of e-sports players have not been well solved. In addition, the public has different understanding of e-sports, which also affects the attractiveness of related occupations to people."

"People often equate e-sports with games, which is a misunderstanding. Some games can be used as carriers for e-sports, but not all games can develop into e-sports. " Yan Hongqiao, deputy dean of the School of Sports Media and Information Technology of Shandong Institute of Physical Education, said that as a sport, e-sports has many characteristics similar to other traditional sports, such as playing under certain rules and having a high degree of intellectual or physical antagonism.

In this Asian Games, the results of e-sports events will be recorded in the national medal list, which belongs to the "intellectual project" with chess events.

Yan Hongqiao said that virtual reality and simulated sports have increasingly developed into an important part of the sports field. "From the definition of e-sports by the International Olympic Committee, virtual sports are also within the concept of e-sports."

E-sports education in colleges and universities needs to break through the bottleneck

In 2019, Shandong Institute of Physical Education enrolled the first batch of undergraduate students majoring in e-sports, which is also the first university in China to offer undergraduate majors in e-sports. Today, four years later, the first batch of e-sports graduates officially entered the society.

Yan Hongqiao introduced that among the first batch of students majoring in e-sports in Shandong Institute of Physical Education, half of them entered the e-sports industry after graduation, except some students who went on to further their studies.

In China, the start of e-sports education in colleges and universities is inseparable from the rapid development of e-sports industry. In 2016, "e-sports and management" became one of the new majors, and subsequently, many colleges and universities opened e-sports majors one after another.

However, the development of e-sports major is not smooth. According to the reporter’s statistics, at present, among the schools offering e-sports and management majors, there are 5 schools at the undergraduate level and 165 schools at the specialist level, and some of them have stopped enrolling students.

"There is a phenomenon of rushing headlong into the e-sports major at the junior college level, and there is also a lack of employment orientation in the training process. The courses are miscellaneous but not refined, and the students’ practical ability is weak. At the same time, the shortcomings of teachers are prominent and the teaching staff is generally weak." Yan Hongqiao said that e-sports professional education in colleges and universities is still in its infancy in China.

Xu Jian believes that some e-sports majors are set up in cities where e-sports industry is not so developed, and there is no good interaction with the industry. There are generally problems such as single content and insufficient system in curriculum setting.

Training compound e-sports talents into a new direction

"At present, the training of e-sports talents carried out by clubs and other subjects is indeed more effective and more adaptable to the development of the industry." Despite this, Xu Jian still believes that it is of great value to develop e-sports talents in colleges and universities.

"As a new type of sports, e-sports has interdisciplinary characteristics since its birth. The e-sports industry has formed a highly relevant industrial chain and needs all kinds of compound talents. " In Xu Jian’s view, this is the great advantage of developing e-sports talents in colleges and universities. For example, he said that professional e-sports commentator positions need talents who know both communication and e-sports. "Therefore, the e-sports major must not be covered by a single discipline. Colleges and universities can organize teachers from different disciplines such as sports, news communication and computer to jointly create courses and cultivate comprehensive and applied talents that are more in line with the needs of the industry."

In Shandong Institute of Physical Education, the school complements each other’s shortcomings by introducing enterprise teachers and order-based training, forming a joint force for e-sports talent training.

Zhang Xueteng, a 2023 graduate of Shandong Institute of Physical Education majoring in e-sports, joined a well-known e-sports company this year. He said that through the cooperation between schools and enterprises, he has gained more practical opportunities and improved his employment competitiveness.

During the interview, the person in charge of an industry company said that through industry research, it is conservatively estimated that there are more than 100 types of jobs related to e-sports and there are abundant employment opportunities. "We will also pass ‘ Electricity-based plan ’ And other initiatives, more actively carry out in-depth cooperation with universities and educational institutions, and jointly cultivate more professional talents in the direction of e-sports operation and club operation management. " The person in charge said.

Third, the "network" promotes development, and the "new economy" expands domestic demand to help transformation.By June 2020, the number of users of e-commerce live broadcast, short video and online shopping in China had all increased by more than 5% compared with that in March, and the number of users of e-commerce live broadcast had reached 309 million, an increase of 44.3 million compared with that in March 2020, with a scale growth rate of 16.7%, making it the fastest-growing personal Internet application in the first half of the year, providing positive help for promoting the transformation of traditional industries and promoting the upward movement of agricultural products. The number of online retail users reached 749 million, accounting for 79.7% of the total netizens. The market remained the first in the world for seven consecutive years, which provided important support for the formation of a new development pattern.

Fourth, the "net" has temperature, and the "new Huimin" Lipui helps to get rid of poverty. As of June 2020, the number of netizens in China has reached 940 million, equivalent to one-fifth of the global netizens. The Internet penetration rate is 67.0%, which is about 5 percentage points higher than the global average. The digital gap between urban and rural areas has narrowed significantly. The difference in Internet penetration rate between urban and rural areas is 24.1%, which has been reduced to less than 30% for the first time since 2017. As an important means of poverty alleviation, online poverty alleviation has been increasingly understood and participated by netizens.

Fifth, the "net" comes to culture, and the "new communication" storytelling creates a new style.By June 2020, the number of users of online video (including short video) in China reached 888 million, accounting for 94.5% of the total netizens, among which short video has become a new choice for news reporting and a new standard for e-commerce platforms. The number of users of online news is 725 million, accounting for 77.1% of the total netizens. With the help of social networking, short videos and other platforms, online news can improve communication efficiency through visualization and help anti-epidemic propaganda and reporting.

Sixth, the "net" knows the world, and the "new tool" sees the world from a distance.By June 2020, the number of online payment users in China had reached 805 million, an increase of 4.8% compared with March 2020, accounting for 85.7% of the total netizens. Seventh, the "net" fills the demand, and the "new service" ensures the capacity to supplement the supply.Affected by the epidemic, online channels have provided a new development window for the service industry. Digital services such as online take-out, online education, online car rental, online medical care and so on are booming, with the number of users reaching 409 million, 381 million, 340 million and 276 million respectively, accounting for 43.5%, 40.5%, 36.2% and 29.4% of the total netizens respectively, which not only meets the needs of netizens, but also provides assistance for the digital development of the service industry.

Eighth, "net" talks about governance, and "new governance" pushes legislation for innovation.By June 2020, the number of online government service users in China reached 773 million, accounting for 82.2% of the total netizens. In the first half of the year, the government governance system was continuously improved and its governance capacity was continuously improved.Civil Code of People’s Republic of China (PRC)People’s Republic of China (PRC) Data Security Law (Draft)Gradually promote digital governance with laws to follow; A multi-collaborative governance system around government, platform and society is accelerating; Online government service is becoming more and more mature, and the construction of national government service platform has achieved remarkable results.

Promote "internet plus"Government affairs service,Prevention and control of epidemic situation, resumption of work and production

Wang Yimin, director of the E-government Research Center of the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (National School of Administration) and deputy director of the National E-government Expert Committee, believes that the data in the Report fully reflects the continuous improvement of China’s Internet+government services and the continuous improvement of the digital governance system in the first half of the year. First, the construction of the national government service platform has achieved remarkable results. By June 2020, the registered users of the national government service platform reached 126 million, with a total of 1.002 billion visitors and a total of 5.891 billion views. A five-level online service system of "covering urban and rural areas, linking up and down, and clear hierarchy" has taken shape. Second, grid governance has brought forth new ideas. Urban and rural communities in many provinces and cities have actively carried out epidemic prevention work through digital tools such as community WeChat groups and small programs, which has become a major innovation in grassroots governance. Third, "Internet+government service" has strongly promoted the resumption of work and production after the epidemic. The national government service platform has successively launched "service columns for small and micro enterprises and individual industrial and commercial households" and 15 service topics such as epidemic prevention and control, resumption of work and production, and employment services. At the same time, it has built an "epidemic prevention health information code", which has gathered and supported 623 million pieces of "health code" data shared by all localities and served 600 million people, which has become an important innovation in this big data support for epidemic prevention and control.

The safety experience of netizens in China has been continuously improved, and the network security environment has been further improved.

Huang Qing, vice chairman of internet society of china, said that in the first half of 2020, China’s network security environment showed a trend of continuous improvement under the continuous crackdown on various network security issues by the National Internet Information Office, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other relevant departments. First, at the policy-making level, People’s Republic of China (PRC) Civil Code, People’s Republic of China (PRC) Data Security Law (Draft) and other relevant laws and regulations have been promulgated one after another, which has promoted the continuous improvement of China’s network security legal system. Second, in terms of infrastructure, China has vigorously promoted the deployment of national top-level domain name resolution nodes, and successively introduced F, I, L, J and K mirror servers to promote the security of network infrastructure. Third, in terms of user safety, the data in the Report shows that Internet users are experiencing increasingly improved network security problems, and the proportion of Internet users who have not encountered any network security problems has kept increasing for five consecutive years. Fourth, in terms of industrial development, the development of China’s network security industry has entered the "fast lane". The existing network security products and services have extended from the basic network security field to different application scenarios such as cloud services, big data, Internet of Things, industrial control, and 5G, achieving comprehensive coverage of basic equipment, basic technologies, security systems, and security services.

Under the background of "new infrastructure", the new format of digital economy helps to enhance the "resilience" of China economy.

Lv Benfu, vice chairman of the National Innovation and Development Strategy Research Association and director of the Network Economy and Knowledge Management Research Center of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, believes that under the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic in the first half of the year, China’s economy was forced to stretch its "ligament" and faced new challenges in supply chain, enterprise management and business activities. The new format and mode of digital economy and the rapid development of digital technology have provided important support for enhancing the toughness of China’s economic "ligament" and promoting the formation of new economic growth points. First, digital technologies such as 5G and industrial Internet provide the underlying foundation for the digital economy. With the help of digital technology, large-scale matching algorithm and high-speed network are transmitted to the cloud, which makes information transmission faster and energy dissipation less, and promotes the digital economy to become a "low entropy economy". Second, digital consumption, such as online shopping, has provided new impetus for promoting economic internal circulation. In the first half of the year, the scale of online retail sales has exceeded a quarter of the total retail sales of social consumer goods, and its supporting role for consumption has been further enhanced. According to the data in the Report, new e-commerce models such as fresh e-commerce, agricultural products e-commerce, cross-border e-commerce and second-hand e-commerce have also maintained rapid development, with the user scale reaching 257 million, 248 million, 138 million and 61.43 million respectively, which has played an active role in promoting the upward movement of agricultural products, driving consumption back and promoting the development of idle economy. Third, digital services represented by telecommuting are forming a new service format. As can be found from the Report,The number of users of online education, online medical care and telecommuting reached 381 million, 276 million and 199 million respectively, making it an Internet application with great development potential, and constantly enhancing the economic resilience while promoting innovation in the service industry.

networkPoverty alleviation has achieved remarkable results. To benchmarkrural revitalizationbuildLong-term mechanism

Wang Xiangdong, former director of the Information Research Center of China Academy of Social Sciences, believes that it is very rare for this Report to record China’s remarkable achievements in network poverty alleviation with multi-dimensional data. First, rural areas have achieved network coverage, and the gap between urban and rural areas has narrowed significantly. According to the data in the Report, the Internet penetration rate in rural areas was 52.3% in the first half of the year, which was 6.1 percentage points higher than that in March 2020, and the difference between urban and rural areas was reduced by 6.3 percentage points. Second, the era of "the same network and the same speed" between rural and urban areas is coming. The proportion of fiber-optic access to poor villages in China has increased from less than 70% in 2017 to 98%, and the proportion of broadband access to poor villages in deep poverty areas has increased from 25% to 98%. Third, the effectiveness of online poverty alleviation has been recognized by the majority of netizens. By the end of June 2020, the proportion of netizens who recognized the Internet in "helping the poor", "helping the sales of agricultural products through e-commerce" and "providing more jobs and medical education opportunities for the poor" had increased compared with that in March 2020. Wang Xiangdong also said that in order to consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation, online poverty alleviation needs to establish a long-term mechanism, and it needs to realize the transformation from helping poverty alleviation within a limited period to helping stable poverty alleviation, from helping absolute poverty to helping relative poverty, from "blood transfusion" to "hematopoiesis" and from helping poverty alleviation to revitalizing industries through online consumption.

"Lalamove" was questioned when it was used as a ride-hailing car, and some drivers admitted to carrying passengers

It has been raining heavily in Beijing for the past few days, and many citizens have reported that when traveling in the morning and evening rush hour, the waiting time for taxis or online car-hailing is long. During this period, some netizens "found a different way" and typed "truck" on an APP that provides delivery of goods called "Lalamove". The news of "Lalamove" carrying passengers has caused controversy on the Internet. The controversy focuses on whether the operation of trucks to carry passengers complies with relevant regulations and whether there are safety hazards?

Although the "Lalamove" platform statement said that the platform is an intra-city freight platform, vehicles cannot accept passenger orders, and it is a serious violation to carry people in the cargo compartment. However, a reporter from Beijing Youth Daily found that some "Lalamove" drivers are still picking up passengers and taking orders. The platform customer service said that they currently have no self-inspection function and can only rely on users to report.

  phenomenon

"Lalamove" turned into an online car-hailing?

After days of heavy rain in Beijing, many citizens reported that it took a long time to wait in line to take a taxi or use an online car-hailing app during the morning and evening rush hour. Later, some citizens posted that they used a truck software called "Lalamove" to get a van registered for the purpose of pulling goods. The user of the post also said that the driver agreed to take them to the designated location even if there was no goods.

The post sparked a lot of debate on the Internet. Some netizens questioned whether the practice of "Lalamove" vehicles "belongs to beyond the scope of operation." Does the platform involved have regulations and restrictions on pulling goods and people? Some netizens questioned whether the car pulling goods is used as a passenger-carrying online car, and there are safety hazards?

  tell

A driver still carries passengers knowing that there is no cargo

Mr. Li told the Beijing Youth Daily that he used "Lalamove" to call the truck at around 8pm on July 16, when he booked a van near the Sina headquarters building through the "Lalamove" APP, "from downstairs to home". Mr. Li explained that there are many people taking taxis after get off work. Before using "Lalamove", he tried to use the online car-hailing software to hail a taxi. "The software shows that the current ranking is 177, and the waiting time is more than two hours."

"I remembered that I used the’Lalamove ‘app to book a car to move, and there was no need to queue at that time. So I used the’Lalamove’ app to book a van, which was a nine-seater commercial vehicle." He recalled that the driver took the order soon after placing the order, and picked him up in about 10 minutes. "I told the driver that I didn’t have the goods, and the driver didn’t say anything, picked me up and left."

Mr. Li said that although the same distance "Lalamove" is similar to the price quoted on the online car-hailing platform, "the van is relatively broken, and the master said that someone used it to pull fish, chickens and ducks. It doesn’t smell good, and it’s not very comfortable to sit."

Another citizen who has used "Lalamove" to take a taxi said that he had recently made an appointment with a seven-seater van. "I think’Lalamove ‘is also an online taxi, and everything is delivered. I am the goods myself, so I made an appointment." He said that when he took the "truck", he also worried about how to communicate with the platform in the event of a safety accident.

  visit

The driver admitted that picking up passengers was common

Is it true that "Lalamove"’s trucks are also in the "online car-hailing" business as netizens said?

Recently, a reporter from Beiqing Daily booked a truck with the information displayed as "minivan" through the "Lalamove" APP. The page also shows that the car weighs 800 kilograms, and the column of special specifications is marked as "fully dismantled seats". Within seconds of placing the order, a driver took the order. The page shows that the driver is 2.4 kilometers away from the reporter of Beiqing Daily. Due to traffic jams, the driver arrived about 20 minutes later.

A reporter from Beiqing Daily told the driver that there was no goods and asked if he could take a car to the designated location. The driver replied that "no problem, it will be charged normally when it arrives at the destination".

In the car, the driver introduced that the situation of "not pulling goods, only carrying passengers" is not the first time. "In addition to bringing people and goods, there are also frequent situations of carrying passengers." The driver said that the platform currently monitors their itinerary through cameras, "which way to go, the places that often come and go, etc., but for the time being, there is no monitoring of whether we are pulling goods or carrying passengers."

On July 17, a reporter from Beiqing Daily used the "Lalamove" APP to book a "minivan" again. The reporter of Beiqing Daily again told the other party that there was no goods and that he only wanted to use it as an "online car-hailing". The driver still said that he could take orders. Several drivers said that they did receive certain orders, which would show messages such as "no goods, two people", and the platform would also send them.

During the visit, some drivers claimed that "it is more cost-effective to carry passengers than to pull goods," on the grounds that "there is no need to load or unload goods, and it is also fast to run, saving a lot of trouble."

If it is more convenient to pick up passengers, why not register for an online car-hailing platform? The driver explained that a car can only register for one platform, "The online car-hailing platform has high hard requirements for vehicles, and the car is better. Generally, the price is more than 100,000 yuan. A minivan like ours cannot pass the review, but’Lalamove ‘has no such requirements for vehicles."

A driver told the Beijing Youth Daily that the number of passenger orders they have received has increased recently. "Now there are enough vans and trucks on the platform, and we usually take orders selectively. Generally, we only take orders within 5 kilometers, and they can arrive in ten minutes."

Beiqing Daily reporter learned that in terms of fees, the price of "Lalamove" at the same distance is similar to that of online car-hailing, but there are differences in the ride environment and safety performance. Some of the "Lalamove" vans reserved have odors in the car, some have been removed from the back seats, and some have placed some sundries and small benches. Some drivers said that they have been traveling to the suburbs and West Second Banner, Huilongguan and other places for a long time. "Every morning and evening rush hour, they will receive a few people to call the’Lalamove ‘car together. They usually note when they take a taxi: There are a few people, no luggage, hope to have air conditioning, and the car is newer. So there are small benches in the car, so if there are not enough seats, you can squeeze in the compartment where the goods are placed. "

  respond

"Lalamove": Drivers will be banned for carrying passengers

On July 16, in response to some netizens’ reports that "Lalamove" was being used as an online car-hailing platform, the "Lalamove" APP released a statement saying that "Lalamove" is an intra-city freight platform. According to relevant transportation regulations, freight and passenger transportation are separated. "This is the same as the reason that passenger cars do not pull goods, so the vehicles on our platform cannot accept passenger transportation orders (except for following the goods in the passenger seat)." The statement also said that carrying people in the cargo compartment is a serious violation, because there is a lack of safety measures in the cargo compartment, and there are dangers in the cargo compartment during the transportation of the car, which is prone to collisions and injuries. Therefore, "Lalamove" has also strictly prohibited the use of vehicles that carry people, people and goods mixed.

On July 17, a reporter from Beiqing Daily called the customer service of the "Lalamove" platform to ask why drivers were still accepting passenger orders after the statement was released. The customer service staff replied that the platform clearly stipulates that passengers are not allowed, but at present the platform does not have a self-inspection method, and can only report and appeal online through users. "After confirming the passenger-carrying behavior, the driver involved will be banned and other processing."

  regulation

If you are not qualified, you cannot operate online car-hailing.

Beiqing Daily reporter learned that on December 21, 2016, the official website of the Municipal Transportation Commission issued the "Implementation Opinions of the General Office of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government on Deepening Reform and Promoting the Healthy Development of the Taxi Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Implementation Opinions") and the "Implementation Rules for the Management of Online Booking Taxi Business Services in Beijing", which made it clear that the conditions for opening online taxis were "Beijing People and Beijing Cars".

In terms of personnel, the driver of the online car-hailing must be registered with the city and obtain a driving certificate issued by the city. In terms of vehicles, the vehicle should meet the basic conditions for providing passenger transportation services, pass the annual inspection of the city’s public security department, have purchased compulsory traffic insurance, third-party liability insurance and passenger accident injury insurance for commercial vehicles, and have a 5-seat sedan or 7-seat passenger car with the city’s vehicle number plate. The relevant person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Traffic Law Enforcement Corps has repeatedly stated that both conditions are indispensable. Even if the driver has a qualification certificate, but the vehicle has not changed to the nature of operation, the vehicle should still be seized according to the illegal operation. If the van driver and vehicle do not have qualifications, they are suspected of illegal operation.

  Remind

Lawyer: Passengers are at risk of hitting "trucks"

At present, the "Lalamove" platform has some models such as Wuling Hongguang seven-seat bus, Changan seven-seat bus, Foton G9 nine-seat commercial vehicle and other models. The customer service staff of "Lalamove" said that the above models can be registered on the platform and passed the review. However, a reporter from Beiqing Daily called the 12122 hotline of the Beijing Municipal Traffic Administration and learned that the above models are passenger cars and cannot be transported. The staff further explained, "Whether it is a passenger car or a truck is subject to the driver’s license, and third-party platforms (such as’Lalamove ‘) have no right to change it. Whether a vehicle is a passenger car or a truck is fixed as soon as it leaves the factory and cannot be changed at will. If you use a bus to pull goods, once the law enforcement department investigates and punishes it, it will be punished according to the specific illegal situation. "

At the same time, the staff of the 12122 hotline of the Beijing Municipal Traffic Administration said that it is illegal to disassemble the rear seat of the van for loading, and "the vehicle shall not be modified or disassembled without authorization."

In addition, Han Xiao, a lawyer at Kangda Law Firm in Beijing, cautioned that consumers using vehicles on the "Lalamove" platform as "online car-hailing" are risky, and in the event of a traffic accident, they may fall into a dilemma of rights protection.

Han Xiao said that according to the provisions of Article 18 of the Consumer Rights Protection Law, business operators should ensure that the goods or services they provide meet the requirements of protecting personal and property safety. For goods and services that may endanger personal and property safety, consumers should be given true explanations and clear warnings, and the correct use of goods or services and methods to prevent harm.

Han Xiao said that this legal regulation requires the "Lalamove" platform to do two things: one is to prohibit platform drivers from deceiving consumers in the name of the platform to carry out passenger activities; the other is to clearly remind consumers on the platform that the "Lalamove" platform is not allowed to engage in passenger activities, to prevent some consumers from unknowingly using it as "online car-hailing".

He said that if consumers know the nature of "Lalamove" to pull goods, they will still use it as an online car-hailing car, and the platform has fulfilled its obligation to remind consumers to pay attention. In the event of a traffic accident, consumers also need to bear corresponding responsibilities.
