On the 18th of this month, "Brothers’ Life and Death Alliance", which was invested and starred by Andy Lau, will be screened nationwide. On the 11th, Andy joined hands with Huang Rihua, Miao Qiaowei, Tang Zhenye, Eason Chan, and Huang Yi to attend the premiere in Guangzhou, and gave an exclusive interview to this newspaper on the same day. Andy revealed that his investment in movies is mainly a hobby, and he has no special ambitions. Today, he will never pursue fame and fortune, but hopes to use his public image to do more useful things for the society.

    Andy Lau announces salary

Andy Lau is one of the investors and stars in "Brothers of Life and Death", a police film that depicts brotherhood. The film also invited his old friends from the TV era, Huang Rihua, Tang Zhenye and Miao Qiaowei, to star. Before interviewing Andy Lau, Huang Rihua and others joked that Andy promised to invite them to travel if the film box office was good. Lau Dehua said that this is all a joke from the brothers. After everyone entered the group, no one raised the issue of the salary. As a result, Andy Lau set the salary, which was the same as that of several other leading actors, "We are 11,000 days, and the salary is calculated according to the number of days. I shot for 7 days before and after, and finally 70,000 yuan. Among them, Miao Qiaowei has the most plays, and it took about 30 days to shoot. This can almost calculate everyone’s salary."

    "Brothers" is not a sequel

In this movie, Andy Lau’s identity is both an investor and a protagonist, but he places more emphasis on the previous identity. Andy Lau said with a smile that he has been an actor all his life, and although the roles are changeable, he has always adhered to his heart.

Asked whether Brothers for Life and Death, which was released at the same time, was under pressure, Andy Lau said: "That’s because they have Ang Lee and we only have Cho. Their investment is $15 million and we are 15 million Hong Kong dollars. So Brothers only gets a quarter of Lust and Caution in Hong Kong and it’s a tie."

He said that even if the film did well at the box office, it would not make a sequel. "I repeat again that this is a purely commercial film, and I have not thought about doing a series like Infernal Affairs, nor have I thought about going to any film festival with this film. In fact, I am very satisfied that the film can get 8 million yuan at the box office."

    Andy despises fame and fortune

Andy Lau has an excellent reputation in the circle and is a famous star for many years. In the past two years, he has funded the "New Star Guidance Program" to support young directors. In addition, last year and this year he served as the national image ambassador for the prevention and control of hepatitis B. His explanation for these actions is simple: "I hope to use Andy Lau, a public image that everyone knows, to do more good things for the society."

Andy Lau said bluntly that at his age, money and fame are not so important. "Some people may say that I work hard to make a show, and I do all this to attract exposure, but do you think I still need these to be exposed now?" He said slowly, "Maybe many years ago, I might have cared about some negative comments, and I didn’t even want to make my own ideas too public, but fame and fortune are definitely not the first thing for me now. I am an actor and a public figure. Doing more useful things to influence the audience and fans is the most valuable asset, and it will also give me greater satisfaction."

Hope Tony Leung wins the award

Speaking of the many directors in the current Chinese film industry, Andy Lau expressed his admiration for Ang Lee: "This is not because he is very good at winning awards, but because his films are very good-looking and profound. He can integrate Chinese and Western cultures without leaving a trace, and he is really a master." If Ang Lee’s next film asks Andy Lau to star, will he accept it? "I think I still need to read the script first to see if the script is suitable for me. For example, in this time, Mr. Yi in’Lust, Caution ‘, I can’t play."

In addition to going head-to-head at the Hong Kong box office, Andy Lau will also compete with Tony Leung at this year’s Golden Horse Awards, with the two nominated for Best Actor for "Mago" and "Lust and Caution" respectively. Asked about the Best Actor competition at the Golden Horse Awards, Andy Lau said without hesitation: "I hope he can win." Why not give yourself a chance? "My character in’Mago ‘advocates non-attack and love, not competition with others." (Reporter, Zeng Jiaxin)
